Chocolate Pie Recipe

   This Chocolate Pie Recipe is a basic chocolate cream pie which should make any chocolate lover happy. Be sure to use a whisk to prevent chocolate pie recipelumps from forming. There is nothing better than a silky, sinful chocolate cream pie. Whisk together the sugar, salt, cornstarch and flour in a medium saucepan. Then whisk in the milk and then add the chocolate bits.  Now cook over moderate heat using a cooking spoon to mix the pudding ingredients. Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and boils. Remove the hot pudding mixture from the burner and then pour half of the mixture into the beaten egg yolks. Add the egg yolk and pudding mixture back to the remaining pudding in the pan.

Return the pan to the burner and whisk the mixture constantly until it comes to a boil. Boil 1 minute. Use low to moderate heat to cook the pudding to prevent scorching. Remove pan from the burner and add the butter and vanilla. Pour pudding into the baked pie shell then chill.   •   1 1/8 cups sugar
  •   1/3 teaspoon salt
  •   1/8 cup cornstarch
  •   3/4 tablespoon flour
  •   2 1/4 cups whole milk

  •   3/4 tablespoon butter
  •   1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/8 cup is equal to 2 tablespoons.
  • Cover the prepared pudding with plastic wrap to prevent the “skin” from forming while the pie is chilling in the refrigerator.
  • Use a whisk to keep the pudding smooth and to prevent lumps.
  • Use whole milk for the richest tasting pudding.
  • 1 1/2 ounces chocolate is usually 1 1/2 squares of unsweetened chocolate, depending on brand purchased.
